DETAILED SCOPE AND DESCRIPTION
ATC Consulting Engineers (formally known as AT Consulting) worked with Council following many years of investigations and planning studies into the upgrade of the Gordonbrook Water Treatment Plant, the newly created South Burnett Regional Council identified the upgrade as one of its priorities in its 2011 Strategic Plan and as such embarked on a plan to refurbish and improve the existing infrastructure.
ATC Consulting Engineers were involved with Council to embark on a major scope extension and upgrade project that would see effectively a new plant being constructed.
The project was huge success bringing multiple benefits across a whole range of areas.
The full scope of ATC Consulting Engineers involvement in the project included:
- Project Management and Delivery
- Completion of the Master Plan to identify the correct regional strategy
- Leading negotiations with DES to finalise the discharge permit conditions
- Review of process options including life cycle costing & selection of preferred option
- Development of concept design and layouts
- Detailed process and mechanical design coordination
- Major equipment selection & Hydraulic design
- Risk management including design reviews, CHAIR and HAZOP workshops
- Tender document preparation
- ECI participation
- Tender review and technical assessment
- Construction support for Principal
- Leadership and management of the commissioning process

PROJECT OUTCOMES
The new DAFF plant has proven extremely effective in improving water quality for the residents of Kingaroy and surrounds with consistently very low turbidly <0.1 NTU, reduced THM production and significantly reduced chlorine demand.
